Creative Reuse: DIY Washing Machine Ottoman

The weekend is a good time to try your hand at a DIY; you've got plenty of time to look for materials and do it right. A while back we were intrigued by a hanging lamp that re-purposed a washing machine's drum. At the time we remember thinking that the cylindrical shape would be a sturdy basis for many other projects. Here's one we like...

Add wheels and a cushion and you've got a cool ottoman, with the built-in plus of storage, that can be used for toys in a kid's room, for laundry in a bathroom (use an old towel for the cushion's fabric; the holes will keep your clothes from getting that musty smell) or for shoes by the door.
