Customizing Your Tech Via Paint

Customizing Your Tech Via Paint

For the most part we love to see people customizing their tech, but there are times when the sight of their modifications just make us cringe. This is especially the case when it comes to paint. While some painted tech makes us think about modding our own devices, other paint jobs make us want to grab our laptop and hide.

What makes a paint mod job awesome? For us it is all about the placement of the color, whether or not it enhances or detracts from the looks of the device, and of course it needs to not limit any functionality.

We love this paint job because the pop of color fits well with the design of controller. Used as an accent, the pink is not overpowering and it looks like a custom option that was available from the vendor.

Although this might not be our first choice of color, we do like the concept. The contrast between the original color and the bright new color is nice, and we wish that a few more items were left their original shade like the buttons to make this contrast more striking.

As you can probably guess, we are not huge fans of this tech paint job. Although chalkboard paint is great on home office walls, it is not awesome on laptops. Not only is the look not aesthetically pleasing, it is also bad for the laptop with all of the dust generated from the chalk.

What do you think? Would you ever paint your tech?
