People keep asking me how the remodel is going and how long until it’s finished. I keep blindly responding with “2 weeks” but I don’t have a clue. It seems like it could drag on forever at this point.

The bathroom tile progress!
Seriously, he must be so tired of looking at our tiny tile...

Not much progress to report this week, unfortunately. David had some family events, and a roofing project, so he was only able to work a few days this week. Although he’s working hard on it, the bathroom tile still isn’t totally finished, and we still have no countertops. In an effort to feel like at least some progress was made this week, we bought a pendant light for the kitchen. This kitchen pendant decision has seemed huge for some reason, and it’s been about three weeks of us emailing one another option after option. So after splitting a bottle of wine one night we threw caution to the wind and ordered one online. Hopefully we still like it when it arrives in the mail next week. We’ve also slowly started unpacking the parts of our kitchen that are ‘finished’ just to feel like we have control of some aspects of progress. Hey, at least we’re emptying out our office now.

The kitchen: still no countertops, but way less cluttered than it used to be.

Other than that, we’re hoping that next week is better than this one. We’ve been going back and forth between feeling optimistic and discouraged, and I can feel myself getting more and more impatient as each week passes. At the same time, I also understand that being able to remodel my home is such a luxury, and at the end of the day, if this is my biggest stressor, then I’m doing just fine. Going to try to keep a better attitude moving forward, and concentrate on being thankful for what I have, instead of focused on what ‘needs’ to be done.

Slowly clearing our kitchen boxes out of the office.

Estimated time for project: 13 weeks
Time remaining: 3 Weeks Over
