Adam and Amber bought their first home — a 1940 Tudor in Knoxville, TN — in 2016 and have been carefully re-designing it ever since. One of the main projects was the "heart" of any home — the kitchen — which Amber described as "on the verge of cardiac arrest."

Amber likes to cook, so functionality was her biggest focus. Thankfully, the kitchen already had both a great working layout and storage potential, which meant appliances could stay where they were, cutting down on the inevitable construction and plumbing costs that come every time you rework a kitchen's layout. That freed them up to spend their budget on features they cared about, like quartz Cambria countertops, GE's Artistry kitchen appliances, and lighting from Schoolhouse Electric.

Amber and Adam removed the popcorn ceiling to expose the original (albeit sagging) ceiling, added a beam to support the sagging ceiling, fixed the subfloor under the old vinyl, extended the hardwood floor all the way into the room, upgraded the electric, added all insulation, bought new appliances, hung new custom cabinets and open shelving, added some beautiful gold fixtures and hardware, then accessorized with a vintage rug and artwork.

This is what Amber has to say about her new kitchen:

I really love this room and find that it looks great in every season. In the spring and summer, it feels bright and cheery. In fall, the [Farrow & Ball] Pigeon color of the cabinets looks so beautiful with fresh apples and winter squash displayed, and in winter, it's a cozy backdrop to fresh greenery. I can't wait to decorate the space for the upcoming holidays! Stay tuned!

Many thanks to Amber and Adam for sharing their beautiful new space. If you want to read about the entire renovation, and see tons of more photos, read all about it on their blog, The Happy Tudor.
