Decorating with Color Coded M&Ms?

We just got the latest domino in the mail this past weekend, and as we were drooling over Lisa Perry's over-the-top mod beach house, we read her bubbly suggestion of "putting bowls of color-coded M&Ms" in different rooms. We are intrigued by this idea, mainly because 1) it feels like a surefire way to gain 15 lbs in a matter of days; and 2) it reminds us of the time when David Lee Roth trashed his dressing room when he found brown M&Ms in the bowl.

However, after doing a bit of "research" (translation: going to Costco, scoring a 3 lb bag of M&Ms, sorting them in jars, and putting them around the house by color), we're oddly drawn to them. It's kitschy, stylized, and pop-y. However, there are a few drawbacks that will make us think twice about following this fashion designer's decor suggestion. Specifically, it makes us feel a bit OCD; and since we're not about to plow through 3 lbs of M&Ms (color separated or otherwise), we wonder how long they'll last?
