Decorate by Number

We have a longstanding love affair with number decor. Last September Leslie pointed us toward the number 5 that started the crush, and we're still swooning. Graphic, ordered, and universal — they have a bold, understated presence that creates an interesting focal point in every setting in which they're placed. Here's a round-up of some current favorites...

They add an unexpected punch to stair risers. You can imitate the look by using durable floor and deck paint to paint a stair runner down the middle of the stairs and using stencils to paint on the numbers. Number decals like these would also work.

We love the bold look of the black and white against the loud fresh green.

These number canvases hung on the front of the bookshelves also help conceal eye sore items behind them.

We love the shape of wine bottles almost as much as we love what's inside them. This one tagged with a number made our day. Even on a crowded bookshelf, it attracts the eye instantly.

We loved these wonderful numbered boxes we spotted at The Old Lucketts store.
