Cosmonaut Lamp: Decorate Your Light Bulbs With Clay

Lamps are a dime a dozen, but this is one of the best clay lamps that we've seen. In fact, it's probably the first clay lamp that we've seen!

Matthew Borgatti sculpted this cosmonaut using polymer clay. He mentions that this has been a recurring sketch that has been haunting him for a while. He finished him up earlier this fall and created a few different versions. Out of the ones that we've seen, we definitely love the Edison bulb one the best.

We were pretty happy to discover that Borgatti is going to be making duplicates of his sculpture and they will be available in February in different stores. We really like how the cord of the lamp becomes the cosmonaut's tether.

This is a great idea, something that you can try with the kids. You can try and sculpt your own decorations for a lamp. There isn't much wiring needed to put this one together. All you'd need to do is to keep the switch intact. Using clay, you can decorate different bulbs and create different lamps yourself.
