Even though warmer temperatures are on the horizon for some of the frozen states across the country, we wanted to share this fun outdoor "icy cake" idea from 6 year old Emelie in Sweeden.
Over at Bakerella, reader Ella wrote in about her daughter's adventures in outdoor "baking." Emelie has a gluten allergy and so most traditional forms of baking aren't always on the agenda, so the two came up with this outdoor dessert buffet.
Simple buckets and other lids and trays were used to hold colored ice water to be turned out and stacked together to represent the different desserts. Simply wet each piece to make them stick in cold weather and you can create quite the spread! It's an inexpensive idea that's sure to capture the minds of the young and old both!
There's enough cake and assorted desserts to go around, make sure to check out the full spread and the woodland creatures and gnomes invited to the party!
Thanks Ella and Emelie!
