10 Under-$150 IKEA Finds with the Smartest Hidden Storage
Whoever originally said that less is more definitely lived in a small space. With square footage at a premium, a small space forces you to think creatively about how you design your space. And yes, that means investing in some furniture with hidden storage.Sounds easy, right? Not quite. You see, finding pieces with hidden storage is difficult enough, but items that look nice? And aren’t crazy expensive? Now that’s a design dilemma. That’s where IKEA comes in.

Why Is Cane Furniture Suddenly Everywhere?
In the interior design world, trends come and go faster than you can say, “mid-century modern”—but you can bet they’ll eventually make a comeback.Take cane furniture, for example. Wickered furniture has been around since ancient Egyptian civilizations, and caning has been having small resurgences since the 1600s (psst… you can check its entire history here). Now in 2019, centuries after cane furniture burst onto the design scene, we’re seeing it everywhere.

We’ve narrowed down the two most popular desk choices &mdash White and Wood. We’re not sure what the psyche behind choosing a wood or white desk is, but we’re surprised to see that those are the top choices. Cozy at the Computer: Using Armchairs as Desk Chairs
It happened by accident but I am now using an old oversized armchair as my desk chair. Carpal tunnel experts and physical therapists may gasp in terror but so far I love doing work in this unconventional cocoon of comfort. I feel like I have upgraded to First Class. Meanwhile, in my old workspace (the TV room), my ergonomically correct black high-tech monster of a desk chair spins alone.

The Most Beautiful 2017 Wall Calendars
If my head weren’t screwed on, I’d probably regularly leave it in one of the home decor aisles at Target. If I didn’t have a wall calendar in my office, I absolutely would have no idea what day it was. Sure I can look at my iPhone, on the two calendars on my laptop, check my watch (though that’s always a few days off), but nothing beats the simplicity of glancing over to my wall and realizing it’s Friday (woo hoo!).

I Tried Feng Shui: Did the Mystical Principles Deliver on Their Promises?
I work from home as a freelance writer/editor in a room that once was my formal dining room, which I transitioned into an office, as I wasn’t content with sitting at my kitchen island on my laptop for hours on end every day. The room is jam-packed with furniture that didn’t quite work anywhere else in my home. That printed floral chair I bought for a corner of my bedroom that didn’t really fit? It’s in my office.

Compelling Evidence that Faux Wall Finishes Can Be Cool
Somewhere along the way, fooling people into thinking you have a brick or stone wall — where a mere plain, plaster wall stands — became a very “uncool” thing to do. I’m here to tell you, however, that it’s not always a bad idea. It can look good — and it’s easier to pull off than ever before. We’re not all lucky enough to live in a house or apartment that has its own built-in architectural charm.

The Key to Color Confidence: The 60-30-10 Rule
If you are nervous or unsure about adding color into your home, consider using 60-30-10 color rule when planning your next room makeover.
