Statistics show that the average worker spends more than 10 hours a week bored stiff, so it’s pretty safe to assume that there are plenty of people desperately looking to escape the predictability of the job. A vacation is a temporary fix, but what about a gig that’s out of the ordinary and out at sea? If that professional prospect appeals to you, it will delight you to know that Disney Cruise Line has a ton of job openings, and they’re actually pretty cool.

Among the positions the company is looking to fill are “cruise staff (an assistant emcee role), musicians, nursery counselors, youth activities counselors, lifeguards, mainstage and character performers, and more,” Southern Living reports.

Like other jobs, working on a cruise ship comes with its fair share of pros and cons. On the bright side, a cruise ship is literally a floating party where employees get their own separate staterooms, are free of living expenses, are known to partake in inter-staff romances and get to travel to some pretty awesome locations and experience multiple cultures. On the other hand, industry veterans assure us that working aboard a cruise ship requires a ton of work. For instance, cruise ship staff can expect to work several months straight (however long the contract lasts) with super long shifts and no days off.

So, if you have insatiable wanderlust, a strong set of sea legs and are in the market for a job that provides housing, maybe a future aboard one of Disney’s cruise liners is a perfect fit for you. In the meantime, check out these behind-the-scenes secrets from cruise line workers, which include typical salaries and other first-person perspectives.

Afterwards head over to the Disney Cruise line job listings to see if you find a gig that’s the right fit for you.
