Disney Is Opening a Pop-Up In NYC To Celebrate Mickey Mouse
Since Mickey Mouse is Disney’s claim to fame, it makes sense that the company would go all out for his milestone birthday.
To celebrate the mouse’s 90th anniversary, Disney is throwing a pop-up bash in NYC called ‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition.’ This 16,000-square-foot experience will allow visitors to interact with art installations created by various artists—from Brooklyn visual artist Shinique Smith to LA-based artist Amanda Ross-Ho. These professionals are tasked with a very important job—to depict Mickey Mouse’s important influence on art and pop culture.
Disney fans from near and far can expect to spend around 90 minutes to enjoy the immersive experience, taking their time to absorb all the murals, sculptures, and paintings that celebrate the iconic mouse.
The pop-up is part of a 90-day countdown to Mickey Mouse’s official birthday on November 18. Additional celebrations are going on around the world at various Disney properties—from Shanghai Disney Resort’s World’s Biggest Mouse Party to Walt Disney World’s “Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It!” Street Party, according to Disney Parks Blog.
‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition’ runs from November 8, 2018 through February 10, 2019, and it will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
