Disney Brought This Classic Attraction To Life in a New Board Game
Whether your family is eagerly awaiting your next trip to the Disney parks or you’re simply in need of a fun, rainy day activity, Funko Games’ new “it’s a small world” board game ($29.99) will surely fit the bill for any group of Disney lovers.
The new board game, of course inspired by the classic Disney attraction with its iconic dancing animatronic dolls and the song of the same name that you can never get out of your head, features an intricate pop-up game board that looks just like the interior of the ride, along with small boat-shaped game pieces designed to move around the board as players advance by identifying kids and animals from around the world in the illustrations. The player who matches the most pictures to the scenes on the “ride” is crowned the winner
It’s designed for players ages four and up (so perhaps not for the littlest of kids), but it can be played with groups of two to six people. Players can split into teams or work together as they embark on the “happiest cruise that ever sailed.” Game time is around 20 minutes, making for a fun way to keep kids entertained for a little while enjoying a bit of quality screen-free time together.
Although it’s obviously not the most complicated of board games out there, a review by WDW Magazine noted that it’s slightly more complex than Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders, so it makes for a great way to introduce an elevated game to young kids without overwhelming or confusing them. Plus, the message of “it’s a small world” — that no matter where we’re from, we all have things in common — has perhaps never rung truer than it does right now, and it’s a lesson that kids and adults alike can share in and celebrate together.
