We are always on the lookout for interesting lighting ideas because lighting is such an often overlooked opportunity to personalize a space. We love this idea from Country Living not only because it adds such a bright pop but also because it involves the creative reuse of an ordinary kitchen bowl. These lovely pendant lights are inexpensive and simple to make- the perfect project for any intrepid DIYer!

The tutorial at Country Living (see slide 7) outlines a surprisingly easy project- all you need is a bowl, a ceramic hole saw attachment for your drill, and a pendant lamp kit to create your own unique lighting fixture. Though we do wonder if cutting the hole in the bowl is an acquired skill, the low cost of this project makes a little trial and error acceptable. We definitely recommend experimenting with a couple of thrift store finds before attempting this project with more treasured ceramics.
