DIY: Custom Lighting from any Transluscent Container

DIY: Custom Lighting from any Transluscent Container

Apr 21, 2009

It seems that there is no shortage of DIY lamp projects here at unplggd. You've got Bent Ply and Tripods. Ikea spare parts and a little home made shoji Zen. Now we can add some green to that a reduce, reuse, recycle kind of way with the Bidon lamp from R3Project.

What do you need?

  • a used translucent plastic container
  • a CFL bulb
  • a bulb fitting with plug
  • a sharp Stanley knife

With some steady handed cutting, you can fit the bulb holder to the cap and get a nice milky white glow from your ceiling, or wall, or table top.
