Leaves, branches, gourds, and acorns are ingredients that add a natural touch to a tablescape. For a bit more sparkle and pizzazz (and a way to keep the kiddos entertained for a few hours) color some autumnal nuts with craft paint for a seasonal centerpiece that'll liven up your table.
Beth had her boys hunt for acorns, and then she baked them on a low temperature for a few hours to kill any critters inside (you can also freeze them). We love that she decided to paint them with one coat; the color isn't totally opaque and adds a lovely rustic feel to the candy-colored acorns.
