DIY Project: Make Your Own Designer Cardboard Laptop Case

A while ago, we featured a nice designer laptop case that was completely made out of recycled cardboard. What was really nice is the general look it had, plus it was made out of corrugated cardboard. We found a few different DIY guides to make your own laptop cardboard case, since paying a couple of hundred bucks for the designer one wasn't really a good idea. It turns out that someone read our minds and actually made a DIY guide that replicates the designer cardboard laptop case.

Instructables user Nikoto made this guide and the result really looks like the bag we featured, it's almost uncanny. We knew that it was feasible to replicate this bag, but what he did looks great. His build requires a lot of precision cutting, but nothing that you can't handle. The other important steps involve gluing the bag together and creating the hinge.

For the bag he created, he used a curved lid to enable him to store more in his cardboard bag. This is a good feature and it's up to you if you want to use it. If you want to make a plainer lid, you'll just duplicate what you've done for the other part of the bag. I liked the designer bag, but found it way too expensive. With this DIY guide, you can clearly make your own bag for a few dollars. [via Craft, photos by Nikoto]
