While installing built-in seating, adding an appliance garage, or converting a cabinet into a wine rack or plate rack might sound like a job for a pro, DIY conversion kits make this a more management project for all skill levels.

This Old House has a great writeup about some of the possibilities of using kits to create built-in seating, plate racks, wine bottle racks, and appliance garages. Check out the full article along with some great photos of what's possible here.

Below are some examples:

Companies like Kitchen Source, Omega National and HoffCo are just some examples of places to get kitchen conversion kits to make more efficient use of the space you already have.

Adding Wine Storage or Stemware Storage is also an option with multiple wine rack options from Kitchen Source.

Adding an appliance garage to a counter is fairly straight forward with an Appliance Garage kit from Omega National which can be summed up on their two page instruction sheet (pdf link).

Other options include a wooden range hood from HoffCo, under the counter trash storage and other storage options you may have never even though of.
