Sewn Souvenirs: DIY Landmark Patches from Your Travel Photos

I travel a lot and absolutely adore the idea of souvenirs as physical reminders and badges of the places I’ve been, but when it comes time to get my suitcase under the 50-pound limit set by the airlines, my new tchotchkes are generally the first things to go. That's why this amazing DIY photo patch project totally knocked my socks off.

Design Sponge's brilliant tutorial lets you turn your vacation photos into souvenirs people might actually want to look at. Using your own photos of famous landmarks or notable settings, you can create little fabric patches for clothing or bags for the most personalized sort of souvenir ever.

They can be made at home after your trip is over, and don’t require lugging around any large purchases you thought were a good idea at the time. They’d even work as magnets or brooches, or just sew them directly to your backpack or suitcase as a type of traveler merit badge.
