DIY Laptop Stand From a $2.99 Ikea CD Rack

A brilliant little idea from a brilliant little Ikea Hacker: In order to raise his laptop's screen to a better height on his desktop, Erik M. modified and repurposed an Ikea CD rack into a cool industrial-looking laptop stand. Just add a wireless keyboard and mouse and you're looking at a pretty spectacular desk setup...

The Ikea that's being hacked in this project from—where else?—Ikea Hacker is specifically the Vink CD rack. Originally designed to hold 20 CD jewel cases, with a little modification can hold your precious laptop in an upright and locked position.

That simple mod we're talking about? Just flip it upside down and snip a few wires at the ends. Just make sure you either file them down or cover the raw edges up before you rest your notebook comfortably inside to prevent scratches from happening.
