Hanukkah begins tomorrow and just in time Ohdeedoh reader, Wendy, send us an e-mail sharing her great DIY project that's perfect for preschoolers. Not only is it young child-friendly, her homemade menorah uses recycled materials as well.

Wendy writes on her Web site, "Every Friday my children light the Shabbat candles. My 10 year old handles the matches skillfully, while my 3 year old daughter gets help from my husband, much to her what is a parent to do when faced with the dilemma of keeping one's toddler safe when handling fire, while still allowing her some independence?"

Wendy's solution came with LED tea lights and a few repurposed materials. She was able to combine a fun family craft and give her daughter the independence she was craving. To read Wendy's complete tutorial, visit her site.

Thanks for sharing, Wendy! Do you have project you'd love to share with us? Please drop us a line at nursery (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com.
