We all have big dreams when it comes to our living spaces, regardless of whether we rent or own our own place. But while we all like to think we'll learn how to reupholster, or retile the bathroom, it's often only the quickest and easiest projects we have the time, money, and skill for. That's okay, and why these three things are our very best-est friends when it comes to decorating at home.

1. Spray Paint

Who knew a $6 bottle could do so much? Armed with only a roll of painter's tape and a can of spray paint, you can revamp your space in an afternoon. While it helps to have experience, it's very hard to truly screw it up, which makes spray paint a great tool for just about anyone. Consider making over a piece of furniture, updating your upholstery, or giving your old white KitchenAid a fresh coat of bright color.

2. Adhesive Products

Like spray paint, all the temporary adhesive products on the market these days are a great way to customize inexpensive pieces or give new life to something you already own. Hate your backsplash? Cover it in just hours with peel and stick tiles. Add some privacy to your living room or bathroom, customize your favorite IKEA item, or completely rig your kitchen to store more with Command hooks. And don't even get us started on temporary adhesive wallpaper.

3. Plants & Flowers

Plants especially are happening in a major way (just look at our house tours for proof). Along with cut flowers, they add color, shape and life to a room. They are also surprisingly versatile and—like artwork, furniture, and other decor—can be used to create a major statement (think staghorn ferns or birds of paradise plants), to fill an empty corner, or even as a last minute styling detail.

What are the other go-to tools in your decorating arsenal?
