DIY Salvaged Painted Wood Wall Art

Okay, I realize that not everyone reading this is as handy with power tools as our friend Janine from Salvage Love. But she keeps coming up with these lovely modern projects that inspire me to get off my duff and start making my way down my long to-do list. Here, she created her own painted wood wall art from old scraps her dad had laying around.

To buy one of these pieces retail, it can set you back $600 to $1100. Janine was able to make this for only $56, while also getting to choose the exact colors she wanted. She estimates that if you're not lucky enough to have salvage wood to use, it might run you as much as $150. But you should definitely put the call out to friends, family and check out sites like craigslist for wood scraps.

The project wasn't a quick one, but if you've got the time or tenacity to save yourself some serious cash, it's completely doable.
