With a few tweaks, Chris of ManMade hacked IKEA's $10 VÄTE table lamp to more closely resemble one of Isamu Noguchi's Akari lamps.

This is a fun project but it should be noted that this hack is a far cry from the the original Akari Beehive Table Lamp (at left) which is still made from handmade washi paper and artfully asymmetrical bamboo ribbing:
