Kathryn and Perry have a cozy home they created with just a few key pieces and their own handiwork. It's clean and comfortable and just what they need with nothing extraneous. Here are three DIY projects that help you get the look of their dining nook and create something similar for your own home.
1. This simple hack is perfect for renters who want custom lighting, but don't want to rewire ceiling lights in a temporary home. Kathryn and Perry rigged a simple IKEA metal light and shelf bracket to create a dining room pendant over their dining room table. Any plug-in lamp and bracket will do, as seen on Growing East or Curbly.
2. Kathryn created this artwork from a huge canvas she found at Goodwill, but Mandi at A Beautiful Mess recently completely something similar that you can try. She made a DIY framed "quilt" in a day that's graphic and modern.
3. You can see just a corner of Kathryn & Perry's wood herringbone coffee table in the photo, but if you click through to the tour, there's a full view of the living room where you can see it better. Sarah Dorsey made a version from beach wood with a square metal base, and Wit & Whistle made an almost identical one with hairpin legs.
