I don't always go crazy over holiday decorating, but I've noticed that whenever I do, my house starts to look much more pulled together than it did in its un-decked out state.

At my old apartment, the gold-painted details on our faux fireplace seemed more festive than gaudy when they had stockings hanging in front of them, and now the burgundy wing chairs that I have been dying to reupholster or donate all of a sudden feel like perfect cozy additions to the space.

I wouldn't go so far as to leave the ornaments up all year, but I'll consider keeping a few lights up until July (or maybe even until next Christmas). What about you, does holiday decor change the look of your space?
