...in 3, 2, 1... How very James Bond. While the name of this coffee table by Studio 1a.m. certainly drew us in, we were left wondering what it all meant. Would the table, sitting so stoutly in our living room, reveal a classified message one random day and then explode seconds later in a dazzling display of fire and light?! Um, not exactly...
The name is really more indicative of a conceptual experiment on the part of Studio 1a.m. The top of each table is structured as a grid of concrete pixels. Each time Studio 1 a.m produces a new table, one pixel is removed from the new design. Following these rules of self-destruction, the shape becomes more intricate with each table produced, as the structure is simultaneously diminishing. Thus, each table is entirely unique and the series will continue, theoretically, until there are no more pixels to be removed and the design ceases to be practical.
The table is sold for $980 for one, or $1700 for two. Each table comes with a diagram showing exactly where the missing pixels are.
The whole concept has us kind of intrigued. What do you think?
