Drill Design & the Plywood Lab: Not Your Average Plywood

Drill Design is a Japanese design studio that specializes in product design. While aspiring to expand the possibilities of plywood, the "Plywood Lab" was born. In that lab, they designed Paper Wood — a combination of plywood and colored paper that creates an almost grosgrain effect. The end result is a series of beautifully simple furniture with an unexpected hint of color.

While these stools, bookcases and chairs aren't yet carried stateside, we can honestly say that we can't wait until they are. With the endless design possibilities and color combinations (from bold and bright to subtle and monochromatic) that can come out of the Plywood Lab, it's always great to see an old favorite reinterpreted in a new way.
