Yay! Next weekend is Earth Hour! (We don't get out a lot so this is kind of a big deal in our house.) TV off, scrabble board out, phones away, lights off, candles out, computer shut down. Because like most people we forget to power down regularly, it's nice to be reminded to switch off and reconnect.
Living in Australia I've been lucky enough to see people take 'the big flick' since 2007 when more than 2 million Sydney siders enjoyed an hour without power and started a movement that now includes 128 countries and sees, lounge rooms, homes and iconic landmarks from the Asia Pacific to Europe, Africa and America standing in darkness for one hour.
If you haven't spent an hour without power in a while, next Saturday might be a good time to start!
