eBay’s Green Team Joins Up With ecofabulous For A National Creative Reuse Competition!

Savvy shoppers know they don’t always have to buy the newest thing around to have great style. In fact, rediscovering the beauty and functionality inherent in items that already exist — that vintage dress that gives you a brand new look, last year’s laptop that saves you money and helps save the planet, or an antique couch that now looks great in your living room instead of in a landfill — is the smarter, greener way to shop…

eBay has known this all along. By offering shoppers a large platform on which to buy and sell their secondhand furniture, housewares, electronics, and clothing, they’ve shown that reuse can be more than just practical. It’s fun and stylish too.

And now eBay’s Green Team is teaming up with ecofabulous.com and the site’s editor-in-chief, DIY maven Zem Joaquin, to promote creative reuse at home. Zem is famous for her talent at breathing new life into old and forgotten objects. She’ll turn a pre-loved bench into something fabulous with a little care and attention. Her site, ecofabulous.com, provides readers with DIY projects, ideas, tips, and tricks to make their homes and families more sustainable. We love this collaboration!

We know you all have amazing creative reuse abilities, and you now you can get in on the fun! From November 4 – 19, the eBay Green Team and ecofabulous.com will hold a Creative Reuse Competition, a national call for the best examples of DIY projects made from reused items. The winner — to be juried by Zem and eBay — will win a $1,000 shopping experience on eBay plus a two hour personalized consultation with Zem. They’ll also be eligible to be featured as a Creative Reuse Expert for eBay.
