Eggshell Speakers: Tiny Yet Powerful

What are eggshells used for? Apart from housing our morning breakfast, we'd be at a loss to say, but that didn't stop Gomhi from using eggshells to craft a pair of tiny and cute looking loudspeakers. These delicate looking speakers were made as a DIY project.

Japanese Maker Gomhi created these eggshell loudspeakers which use a chicken eggshell as a speaker cabinet. Eggs, cotton, and clay were used, as well as a Hi-Vi B1S speaker driver. We've seen speakers created from a bunch of different things, but this is the first time we've seen eggshells! Gomhi confides that the speakers sound a bit narrow, but he's still pleased with the result. Even though they are a bit late for Easter, these speakers are a treat. It must have taken a good deal of patience and meticulousness in order to cut the eggshell into the desired form. Gomhi mentions that this speaker isn't great for heavy metal, but excellent for listening to classical guitar.

A delicate process indeed, but the results are amazing. We love how these eggs are resting on these big clay feet which make the whole set of speakers look like something that could hop around. Gomhi made these as a DIY project, but we don't know many people who'd be able to craft these. Nevertheless, they are cute and can lead to a lot of DIY customization. [via Make, image by Gomhi]
