Eleanor’s Cure: Out with the Old…
Yeeaaah… so my Outbox sort of took over my living room this month. I didn’t plan for this to happen; it started life completely respectably in a downstairs closet, but eventually grew into something I couldn’t contain.
The trouble is, I’m quite good at Outboxing (or as I like to think of it, “exfoliating my home”) in general. I get the same high from getting rid of things as I do from buying new ones, and I pretty much always have a large shopping bag tucked into the corner of my closet, filling up with castoffs and unloved items and waiting for the day it’s carted off to the charity shop.
So, take this predilection for getting rid of things and add a January Cure challenge? Oh, and add to that the fact that my flatmate is moving abroad in a month and is going through every room in the flat with a fine-toothed-comb and a take-no-prisoners-attitude? Yeah, you get an Outbox that slowly but surely takes over your home.
Here’s just a taster of the collection I’ll be lugging to a charity shop this weekend:
- 5 bags of books
- 3 bags of clothing
- 3 pairs of shoes
- 1 television set
- bag of fabric / crafting / sewing supplies
- 1 small piece of luggage / weekend bag
- 1 bag kitchen equipment / gadgets
- 1 nonstick wok
By the time I actually get this stuff out of the flat, I’m sure there’ll be even more… and that’s not including the stuff I’ve just plain got rid of!
So, what are you emptying from your Outbox this weekend? Are you taking the lazy Cure-er’s way out and donating to the local charity shop like me, or are you selling, giving away to friends, etc?
