Electric Fireflies: Serenity Now!

Electric Fireflies: Serenity Now!

I love living in the Pacific Northwest, but this time of year I get nostalgic for little glowing fireflies of my Midwest roots. If you too find yourself lacking in this department, these electronic fireflies can help bring some magic to your outdoor space.

These tiny electric fireflies are made by Tom Padula of Humble Earth Productions. He was on hand at Maker Fair in San Francisco last weekend. They are waterproof, solar powered LEDs that blink intermittently give the illusion of fireflies. They are super lightweight, so the slightest breeze sets them in motion. Humble Earth Fireflies are about $10 a piece. On their website you can get a subscription to have the little e-fireflies sent to you on a monthly basis in order to gradually grow your collection. Though a massive swarm of fireflies would get a little spendy, it would be a sight for sore eyes in my neck of the woods!
