Electronic Faucet from Frattini: Making a Simple Task Complicated

Electronic Faucet from Frattini: Making a Simple Task Complicated

Oct 10, 2008

What could be easier than turning on a faucet to wash your hands? Not much, unless you count the old British style sinks where there are actually two separate faucets in the same sink, one for hot and one for cold....and they are on opposite sides. Good luck trying to get a nice comfortable temperature for you hands or face there. Anyways, Italian manufacturer Frattini has gone in the completely opposite direction from the English faucets of yore with the Elettronico electronic faucet.

Instead of a handle you get a touch screen. Instead of having to run the water and feel it occasionally to make sure it is at the right temperature you can set it and forget it. There is no doubt that this is very slick looking and there are advantages to not having to waste water in order to run it to get it to the right temperature, but the last thing we want is not being able to get water from the tap during a power failure. We are already so dependant on electricity as it is, that this just seems like one of those places where we should leave well enough alone.
