Elements by Durcon: Eco-Friendly & Recyclable Countertops

In the past ten years it seems that every single kitchen rehab saw the installation of granite countertops. Not only is granite getting a bit tired, it's also not a very eco-conscious option. Enter Elements to save the day.

Made of a mix post-consumer recycled glass (an average of three beer bottles per square foot), natural quartz minerals and resin, Elements countertops are an attractive, green option for kitchen renovations. In addition to its green properties, Elements is manufactured in Taylor, Texas.

Of course, being green is one thing; being attractive and durable is the really important part. Judging by these photos, the high-gloss finish, available in 12 colors, would fit with both modern and traditional kitchens. Unlike many non-granite options, Elements is heat- and stain-resistant, as well as being scratch resistant and non-porous. It requires no sealing and cleans up simply with soap and water.

Does anyone out in the community have experience with these countertops? We'd love to know how they install.
