Your closet is full of clothes that don’t fit

This is so silly. Not only are you wasting your storage space but you’re keeping these things that can be an emotional minefield. If you’ve outgrown certain things, it is perfectly okay—nay healthy—to purge them from your space. It will make your whole getting-dressed experience so much smoother and happier.

You don’t have an easy organizational system

No matter how much you think you’ll be good about keeping your desk neatly stacked or your mail efficiently sorted, if you don’t have a rock-solid system in place, you’re probably fooling yourself. What are you waiting for? It’s worth it to get a great structure set up — it will save you so much time and hassle in the long run.

You own stuff for a life you don’t have

If you never entertain or only do your drinking at the bar then you don’t need a dozen champagne flutes. Collecting items for a far-off future time when you have different needs isn’t doing you any favors, it’s just using up all your storage space! Assess your current needs and edit your things down to a workable, reasonable amount.

The tools you use to clean aren’t clean

What a waste it is to spend your time cleaning with an implement that’s filthy —you’re only spreading the dirt around! As annoying as it is to have to think about cleaning the very things you use for cleaning (ahhhh), you really should give your mops, brushes, sponges and appliances a thought every so often. It’ll make all your cleaning jobs so much easier and more sanitary.

Time to ‘fess up. What are you lying to yourself about in your home?
