®How do you know what the next big thing is going to be? Well, if you’re Etsy’s trend expert, Dayna Isom Johnson, you have the entire marketplace to see what new styles are coming–and what new styles shoppers are looking for. The changing of the seasons is a perfect time to refresh your space, and she’s identified six trends that are a great way to do it. Even better: Isom Johnson has also picked three buys that she’s currently loving, taking some of the guesswork out for shoppers.

“A riff on the growing ’90s trend that combines the ever-popular rainbow theme with pastel hues. This trend adds a subtle shine to everything from lighting to home decor. Searches for ‘iridescent decor’ are up more than 400 percent so far this year on Etsy.”

A Rental-Friendly Personal Welcome

“We spend so much effort into making our homes cozy and reflective of our style but this season I’m encouraging people to have their entrance make a statement. It’s worth investing a little effort in the curb-appeal of your home whether its welcomes or custom door decals or house numbers. I love this planter house number and in fact searches related to these items are up 130 percent this year on Etsy.”

Today’s ’70s inspired homes feature macrame, wicker furniture (e.g. the rattan trend we spotted in Germany earlier this year), and vibrant colors. On Etsy, we’ve seen a 57 percent increase in searches for ’70s home decor.'”
