We balk if there's a little visible pollution in our beautiful Texas skyline, or bottles floating in the lake—but we can't imagine living in one of the most toxic places on the planet. Jump below for the Mother Nature Network's list of the most polluted places on earth, and find out what you can do to help...

Browse through this slideshow at the Mother Nature Network of places around the world where severe pollution has wreaked havoc. Deforestation, nuclear radiation, overwhelming piles of trash... It's disheartening. But at the same time, it's a call to action to make sure that people (and plants and animals) don't have to live in these conditions.

Here are a few links to organizations that offer aid people to in the places where pollution has had a negative effect on daily life. Be sure to leave more in the comments:

Also, this is a great reminder to continue recycling, living lightly on the earth, and making sure you purchase sustainable goods—that way, your contribution to these pollution problems will be nonexistent!
