You Can Sleep In These Famous Peoples’ Childhood Homes

We routinely keep an out of for celebrity real estate listings so we can fawn over the glamorous digs and get into a glimpse into their typically fab lifestyles. But there’s also a fair bit of collective curiosity over how famous people lived before the spotlight, which could explain the presence of these famous childhood residences on Airbnb.

First up is a pad listed as The Golden Girl Guesthouse due to its affiliation with none other than Rue McClanahan, known for her portrayal of the sassy, self-assured character Blanche Devereaux. The three-bedroom, three-bath house is located in Ardmore, Oklahoma just across the street from McClanahan’s childhood home. It currently rents for $230 per night.

To visit the place where a famous seafarer got his start, consider camping out a few nights in the village of Great Ayton, hometown of Captain James Cook. This one-bedroom bungalow features central heating and a large wet room/shower area. Guests are accommodated by the double bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living area, and are also allowed to access and use the garden.

Back over on this side of the pond, the childhood home of celebrated jazz musician and composer Charlie Parker encourages guests to make themselves comfortable while visiting Kansas City, Kansas. The one-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom apartment is located in a fully restored building and features a kitchen and a fireplace. According to the listing, the apartment is within the walking distance of the Westport entertainment district and also close to downtown.  Parker’s former pad currently rents for $117 per night.

Not only is St. Louis a place to indulge your love of design, it’s also the inspiration for works produced by revered American playwright Tennessee Williams. Throughout his youth, the famed writer lived in various places throughout the city, among them what is now a luxury two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in the Central West End neighborhood. For $240 a night, guests can enjoy the entire unit, which has been fully renovated. There’s a spacious living area, an open kitchen filled with top-of-the-line appliances, a master bath and a hallway bath with a Jacuzzi tub.
