Farmhouse Conversion by LASC Studio Architecture

This week I stumbled across a remarkable Swedish farmhouse conversion project, Summerhouse Skåne, on the Architizer website. With a focus on traditional structure while incorporating modern elements of design and light, who wouldn't want to spend their summer afternoons in this Swedish home?

Jonas Labbé and Johannes Schotanus of Copenhagen's LASC Studio wanted to bring light into the typically dark interior of a traditional farmhouse. Using concrete, pine and white plaster, LASC Studio's goal was to emphasize the materials of the area in Österlen, Sweden.

By removing two thirds of the walls and ceilings, the home features an open floor plan and is accented with a bright pine, orange and teal color palate. My favorite room has got to be the bathroom with its modern claw-foot bathtub directly facing the countryside. This seems to further translate the connection of the home to the nature that surrounds it.

See additional photos of this and other projects at LASC Studio's website.
