From its soft texture to its time-tested durability, felt is an incredible textile. The are a number of applications for felt and, more recently, designers are using creative ways to incorporate felt in their design. The latest example I saw that caught my eye was of the Felt and Gravity series by Amy Hunting.

Amy Hunting is a Norwegian born designer now located in East London, developing work that uses traditional materials in untraditional ways.

Hunting's Felt and Gravity series mixes douglas fir, felt, and brass to create a simple, yet stunning collection of functional furniture. The colorful hanging shelves gain their strength from the weight placed inside them. The series includes sideboards, tables, and storage boxes, all of which are flat pack constructed for less expensive delivery.

What do you think of Hunting's new approach to designing with felt?
