Felt Gingerbread Cookie Ornaments

The other night we "baked" a batch of gingerbread men. The recipe requires no flour, sugar, or even ginger. Just felt and some fabric paint as icing is all you'll need for these cookies.

Using a cookie cutter in the shape of a gingerbread man, I made a template and then cut out our gingerbread men from pieces of brown felt. Of course you can make any shape you like. After you've cut out your felt cookies, pipe them with your fabric paint icing. Wait for the paint to dry following the recommendations on the bottle. That's it! You can get fancy and use colored fabric paints, glitter, etc. but we just stuck to the basics. You can hang them as tree ornaments by stringing them with thread.

After my kids decorated their gingerbread men, we placed them on cookie sheets and they baked them in their play kitchen. Check out our post from last year on making felt ornaments here.
