Temperatures are dropping fast and that has us coveting the Mackinaw blanket from that true Northwest original, Filson. Large enough for a king size bed and weighing in at close to 10 lbs., you'd be hard-pressed to find a thicker or warmer blanket.
For lounging on the couch, there's the smaller Mackinaw "Lap Robe." Both are woven from 100% virgin wool, raised and milled in the U.S. At $199 and $145, they cost more than your average blanket but like all of Filson's products, these are made to last so you'll most likely never need to buy another blanket again.
They are available through the Filson website but we like any excuse to visit the flagship store in Seattle. With a big stone fireplace and outdoor displays, it feels like a mountain getaway. There are also stores in Portland and Denver.
