Unless you feel like going into debt for your green construction and home building projects, there's a good chance you're on the look out for salvaged goods. Although none of us are new to Craigslist in the slightest, there's one section of it you might not have checked into before. With our current projects were checking it hourly—we're of course talking about materials.
Craigslist is a great resource for used homegoods, furniture, even pets. But have you checked into the materials section recently? You'll find everything from homeowners who have extra supplies or contractors who have materials left from a job site that they're looking to make some money back on.
Although you have to keep a careful eye out to make sure the items in question are green or good for your home, we've found all sorts of deals on everything from wiring to lumber and even low VOC paint! Even if you can't go all out green from floor to ceiling, the ability to reuse someone else's goods at a lesser price is still a great route to take! So check the city nearest you and see what they have to offer!
