Finding a New Home: Short or Long Term Lease?

Moving into a new apartment is an extremely exciting experience. When we initially start thinking about the process, we tend to go straight to the decorating and moving. What we should be focusing on &mdash just how long we plan on spending there.

The amount of time we plan on living somewhere depends on a lot of things. Each person is different, so it's an extremely personal choice. Maybe your job is temporary and you don't need to stay long, or maybe you just moved in with your significant other and you can't imagine moving. There are a lot of things to think about before you sign a lease.

If you're currently looking for a job, you might shy away from signing a long term lease. Maybe you'll find a job in another city and you certainly don't want to be stuck with an apartment you can't get out of. On the other hand, maybe you just landed your dream job and there's nothing that could stop you from staying put. There's no reason not to sign a long term lease.

Ultimately the decision to sign a short or long term lease depends on the individual person, there's no wrong or right choice!

What made you sign your short or long lease?
