Aaron's post on New York houses triggered my childhood fantasy of big city home life, which was rooted in the Brooklyn home of the Huxtables, aka Bill Cosby and family. Nevermind that the interior side windows and large backyard didn't really match up with the exterior shots of a brownstone rowhouse—it was my 7-year-old self's dream home.
Looking back, the Huxtable House isn't really my style, but it's got some good features worth noting. The open-plan kitchen changed little over the years; the homey space always provided the perfect environment for Cliff's heart-to-hearts with the kids and his midnight trips to the fridge.
Sure, the living room furniture was fussy, but the couch looked comfy and it was a good spot for Cliff and his wife, Clair, to cuddle. Like any good TV family home, the house itself wasn't the most memorable part of the show. The stuff that went on inside it was the real reason for watching.
