Try This 2-Step Weekend Plan for a Warm and Spotless Home
You know that old cliche about taking medicine with a spoonful of sugar? Well we believe in it: do something you like and something you don’t like at the same time. That’s why you have two tasks today. One that’s fun and one that’s not-so-fun but really important.
It’s not too late to join!
It’s the classic Cure weekend combo that you’ll see all month long: Warm your home with a little life on Friday, then take the next few days to tackle a much-needed chore around your space. The extra effort you put into this one-two punch over the next few weekends will elevate your space like nothing else.
You have until Sunday night to get this one done, then we’ll pick up on Monday with assignment number 5.
This Weekend’s Assignment:
First, treat yourself to flowers or a houseplant (or a bowl of fruit, or whatever is going to bring some life to your space), and place them in a prominent spot where you’ll notice them again and again.
Then, clean the floors throughout your home. Vacuum or beat your rugs and sweep and mop all the floors, moving things out of the way as needed as you go to get a truly thorough clean.
The “medicine” part of the weekend is tackling the floor around your home. It’s a big job (that’s why you have the weekend!) but so important to how your space looks and feels. Not only that, this floor cleaning task will have you really connect with each room and help you to spot issues that you may have missed when making your to-do list — feel free to add them now. And, if you come across things for the outbox, drop them in.
The “sugar” part of the weekend is the flowers or the plant. It’s an enjoyable and affordable little luxury that actually does a lot for the heart of your home. In the Eight Step Home Cure book, Maxwell wrote: “As simple as it sounds, the act of buying flowers for your apartment holds great significance and will heal your home on many levels.” They are not only beautiful and useful — both flowers and plants add life to your space and help to humidify and sometimes purify the air — they’re also a constant reminder of what you are doing by working through the Cure.
Feel free to use the comments section throughout the weekend to pop in and let us know how it’s going. As always with the Cure, the collective positive energy of everyone on this journey keeps us all motivated to power through!
