With Spring Cleaning for Your Mood, we’re helping you get your housekeeping done no matter what state of mind you’re in. For 20 weekdays in April, we’ll focus on cleaning a new area of your space, with three different ways to get it done—so it’s easy to stay on track even when you’re busy, tired, or away from home.

This is it—the final day of the official Apartment Therapy Spring Clean. If you’ve been following along all month long, I hope you’re feeling proud of what you’ve accomplished and happy with the state of your home. Whether you finished the deep dive every day, or just tried a few of the mindfulness tasks, you stayed committed to cleaning your home, and that’s a huge accomplishment.

Today, we’ll wrap up our spring cleaning the same way you should always finish your cleaning sprints: with the floors. When you clean top to bottom, your workflow is working for you, sending dirt and dust downward until you’re ready to gather and clear the floors. Even with a slow, day-by-day clean like this program, it’s good to get into the habit of finishing with floors to really sink in and embrace your freshly cleaned home.

So let’s finish this last assignment and I’ll bid you goodbye!

Day 20 Assignment: The Floors

You may have already hit some of this in the spring clean, and it’s probably a normal target of your routine cleaning. So just do what feels right—like it will be the finishing touch of your spring cleaning journey.

So what are you in the mood for today?

A Satisfying Deep Dive: Clean and treat your floors.

If you’ve got the time and the energy, dive in on a deep clean of all your floors. Sweep and mop as needed, all over. For extra credit if you’re able, get up close and personal and hand-mop those areas that seem to escape your best efforts with the handheld mop.

If you’re able, now is a great time to apply wax, sealant, or other floor treatments as needed.

A Quick Win: Clean the floor in one room.

With whatever time you have today, focus your efforts on one of your most-used rooms, and clean the floor really well in there. Move around the furniture, sweep, mop, hand-mop in some places if you’re able, and just get that room feeling impeccably clean underfoot.

A Mindful Reset: Sit on the floor for a spell.

If you change your perspective, you can start to see where your regular cleaning routine might be missing the mark. Sit on the floor for a bit today—with your pets or kids, or if you’re not able to sit on the floor, sit in a seat you don’t usually sit in—and examine your floor. Look for dust bunnies hiding out under furniture, or corners that seem to get skipped. Then, the next time you’re doing your usual cleaning, you’ll know which spots need an extra spring cleaning effort.

Ok that’s it for Spring Cleaning for Your Mood! I hope you enjoyed the assignments and tips. Thank you SO, SO much for letting me into your homes this month. If you have any feedback for me or the team, you can leave a comment here, email me, or send me a message on Instagram.
