Free Trees and Plants

Kudos to Marianne Rohrlich today for finding, a salvage shop for discarded trees, plants, shrubs and bulbs. Based in Nebraska, Free Trees and Plants “sells” everything they have at a price that goes simply to cover shipping and processing by workers with disabilities.

Started by Cheryl Richter, this non-profit charity is an effort to reduce waste and provide jobs. As she says:
Every year millions of healthy high-quality plants go unsold and are destroyed.
They go to the dump,
They get plowed under,
They get burned or buried.
It’s a huge waste.

Free Trees inventory is big and changes continually as seasonal plants come in. If you are thinking about planting for the fall, now is the time to reserve, while perenialls are available now. MGR
