Freewheeler Speaker

Freewheeler Speaker

Aug 11, 2008

What looks like a speaker in a ceramic case at first glance is actually a speaker housed in lacquered wood. What looks like a compact portable speaker is actually almost 2 feet in diameter. And what looks like a speaker that should cost $200 tops, is actually £10783.73. Yup, $20,673. How come?

The receiver and amplifier are built into the case of the speaker, which probably accounts for some of the size. Powered by batteries, music is wirelessly transferred between your CD player and the Freewheeler speaker via a 2 way FM transmitter. This makes the unit truly portable since you don't have to worry about placing it near an outlet or having one outside on the patio. We're still not sure how you justify a $20,000 battery powered portable speaker. For that kind of dough we would want to have the proper listening room setup to truly enjoy the sound of the speakers, not on the patio with the distractions of outdoor noise.
