From Kitchen Island to Dual Sink Vanity

From Kitchen Island to Dual Sink Vanity

This inspired Ikea Hack transforms a Groland butcher block kitchen island into a customized spa bathroom vanity. When hacker Mel Jenkins moved into a new condo, the 45 square foot master bathroom presented a unique design challenge; determined to squeeze in dual sinks on a budget, Mel made the trek to Ikea to find a piece in the right size that could be altered to fit the needs of the space.

A little stain, a little tile, a little plumbing, and a lot of elbow grease later, Mel has a custom 48" dual sink vanity that would fit right in at any spa or boutique hotel. The Groland butcher block island is only $199- dramatically less expensive than similarly styled pieces designed to work as bathroom vanities.
